Although, you can’t celebrate women or the womanhood in a day or even a month, like we at ertsy are trying to, International Women’s Day is a great reminder. Originally called International Working Women’s Day, it is celebrated on March 8 every year. And, we are absolutely ecstatic to talk about these awesome, influential women who are working at different levels in different industries to make the world a better place in their own ways. Whether it is about inspiring, teaching, grooming or creating, these women have impressive credentials and inspiring portfolios. What is more valuable is that they have all had their own share of struggles that they have overcome.
In a recent interview, renowned designer and Spice girl, Victoria Beckham said that working women should do away with the guilt that weighs them down and be proud of their perseverance, struggle and accomplishments. Taking from that, here’s a list of some amazing women in their respective fields who we are celebrating as the women’s day this year.

She was the pioneer of Awadhi jewellery in India and celebrates the rich heritage of Awadh with her collections. Along with being a jewellery designer, Tanya Rastogi has also been the voice of Indian jewellery industry and has been a part of various industry initiatives from time to time. As she says “the joy of seeing an unwanted child become a member of a loving family was what kept me going day after day”. She subsequently became a trustee of a trust run by a family friend. This exposed her to the various ills plaguing society and the deprivations that the poor children were subjected to. The experiences gained in the over 20 years of selfless work made her realise her true calling in life and she became a trustee of Ratna Nidhi Charitable Trust.
5) Archana Kumar
An entrepreneur, down-to-earth sales person & a deal maker, she started her career with her enterprise – Vels Communication was one of the most successful resellers of MICR encoders in the market place. In over 25 years, she has held progressively challenging roles in Sales and marketing. She is the driving force behind Image InfoSystems’ market-leading technology and business vision. She is responsible for sales development as well as developing global revenue strategies.
Having being diagnosed with breast cancer, she did not lose hope & fought back. After every Chemotherapy session, she was back to her office managing work efficiently. She is an inspiration to her team.
For all the failures, successes, insecurities and struggles you’ve sustained and tried to come strong from, you’re an inspiration. For being a strong individual, who doesn’t shy away from taking responsibilities neither from making sacrifices when needed. You, are an empowered woman, who can make her own decisions and a life that makes you beautiful in every way possible. Which is why, you inspire me and many around you exceptionally.
So, pledge to be that woman, this women’s day. Well, while at it, also pledge to be the woman who helps other women stand up, influence them, raise them and be them. That, in all honesty, is the ultimate empowerment.
So, this women’s day, stay ertsy, be your own desire. AND, Don’t be the girl that fights, be the woman that empowers.
Happy International Women’s Day! xx
