Dos and Don’ts: Styling High Waisted Pants

Dos and Don’ts: Styling High Waisted Pants

The best part about fashion is the fact that it repeats itself but never stop reinventing. I say that because I want to talk about the majestic High Waisted Pants that have stolen my heart this season. So, they’ve been around for a while but I’ve seen them making the most rounds this season. This is understandable since the ‘throwback’ vibes that this Spring Summer is all about can’t overlook the retro edge the high waisted pants have.

What made me fall in love with the high waisted pants is definitely to do with the fact that they look absolutely amazing on all body shapes and sizes. I’m a sucker for democratic clothing and this is, thus, on top of my crush-list right now!  They are quite easy to style, too. I mean, if only you had a do’s and don’ts list to still have some kind of guideline… hmm… yup, this is exactly that.

I’m also wearing a pair of High Waisted Pants from Shein (cheers to them) that I styled using the very hacks. So, if you liked my outfit, you’d certainly get an insight into styling it using this list. Obviously, you can buy these pants using this link:

Dos and Don’ts: Styling High Waisted Pants

1. Define Waist

High Waisted Pants are an easy fashion piece to style since they give a curvier silhouette to all body shapes. However, that just makes you first do to define your waist and look for either a piece that is well-fitted on your waist and belly area or has tassels and tie-knots to define it. Obviously, you can have both, too!

2. Cut the Bulk

High Waisted Pants can be bulky and overbearing. So, make sure to cut the bulk as much as possible. Wear fit blouses or even a medium crop top if for a casual day. Shy away from the flair and funky and let your trousers be the star of your outfit!

3. Look for details and Elements

Whether it is the stripes, colors, tie up waistbands, or just fabulous buttons on the hemline, it’s the little elements that’ll add to the panache of your pants. It’s always about the details!

4. Be wary of the length

You definitely don’t want to overdo the the length either go too short. So, be wary of the length of your high waisted pants in all cases. If it’s a jeans, fold it at the ankles, if it’s a trouser, get it tailored, if it’s  a palazzo, don’t let it flow beyond your shoe!

1. Over Accessorise

Seriously. Your high waisted trousers are catchy enough. Maybe take a cute sling if you really want to add something but don’t overindulge. You don’t want to look like a walking mannequin!

2. Over Flair

You don’t need to go overboard with the legs of your pants and make them flair so much that they start looking like a long skirt. This is a very important when wearing any Palazzo pants, too. But you gotta be wary of this in all kinds of high waisted pants, really!
