Hola Ertsy Beauties! Last few weeks have been an amazing journey since I’ve regularized my content, defined my niche and all the love I’ve received in return. So, when it was time for another Ertsy Look Of The Week, I asked myself on what I wanted to innovate on. Since I have worked on my favorite aesthetics in the past weeks and well, enjoyed every bit, the only I was missing out was on the Retro. Now, I don’t like all of it but I certainly am a sucker for the Retro thematics and the old polaroids.
(If you’ve been following my Instagram, you know)
In a broader sense, Retro style is consciously derivative or imitative of trends, music, modes, fashions, or attitudes of the past. The emphasis is on past because every fashion style from the 60s to 90s can be loosely classified in the same header. However, for this week’s look, I’ve tried to mix the Retro Art Thematics in the lighting and behavior for a beautiful ensemble. The outfit in itself is fairly simplistic but the make-up and the Polaroid pictures give it the retro finish.
The idea of an Ertsy twist to retro lies in the fact that you don’t always need to have the exaggerated styles to be retro. Furthermore, I believe that fashion is all about the mood you set for the character you take. For me, the style I choose for the day decides the story around it. And that’s why this outfit post is about the thematics and not the outfit itself.
Ertsy Tip: Don’t wear the outfit, wear the character!
Nude Pink, halter style dress
Nude Pink block heels
Delicate Silver Choker Necklace with Tassels
Pastel Blue Sling Bag
Hair and Makeup:
Vintage style mid-part and low-rise braid buns
Winged eyeliner, Light BB-cream, Mascara and two-shade pink and gold eyeshadow
So, that was about my retro thematic style. Do share in comments below what you like about the retro and maybe, I’ll try to give that an ertsy twist in my next outfit look.
