CBD, the good old ‘medical’ marijuana. It’s hard to miss wherever you go these days. In edibles, gourmands, or even skincare. To be fair, I’m not even mad. I mean, if someone wants to get high (with discretion & caution), why not! To each their own. However, what piques my interest is the CBD skincare. This is why I tried the Bodyshop CBD skincare: CBD Cleanser Mask & CBD Facial oil and decided to review it.
What is CBD skincare? Will it make me ‘high’?
CBD or cannabidiol is one of the two chemical compounds derived from the cannabis plant. Compared to THC, the active ingredient in marijuana, CBD is not psychoactive, which simply means that ingesting it or putting it on your skin will not cause you to feel ‘high’.
Is CBD skincare worth trying?*
Known for its healing properties, “cannabidiol offers some serious antioxidant and anti-inflammatory benefits which can be beneficial in treating skin concerns like inflammation, dryness and free radical damage,” says Ildi Pekar, NYC-based aesthetician and founder of her own eponymous skincare line.
CBD might also be effective in fighting acne as it helps reduce the production of sebum in the skin. Additionally, studies indicate that cannabidiol may be effective in treating eczema and psoriasis as well.

So, to say, it’ll help you fight & manage eczema or drying dead skin, in general, and other inflammatory skin conditions.
How to choose the right CBD skincare product for your skincare needs?
TBH, this is quite similar to finding any other skincare product for your needs. You read the product description and understand the product usage recommendation and research the reviews. This is the best way to ensure that the product is safe and that it contains exactly what the label claims it contains. I also choose a brand that I trust for that added measure of confidence.
This is why for my first go- I chose to try the Bodyshop CBD skincare products.
Reviewing Bodyshop CBD Skincare
1. CBD Soothing Oil-Balm Cleansing Mask
So, I started with this vegan cleanser mask. The product description states that it is best suited for dry skin but works on all skin types. It literally promises:
“..helps purify your skin. In an indulgent gel-to-milk texture, this cleansing mask soothes skin from dryness discomfort and removes impurities without leaving it feeling dry. Enriched with a blend of naturally derived CBD, hemp seed oil and squalane”
Now, I usually have combination skin but in the past 1-2 years, I had been struggling with a lot of dry patches on my face and peeling, too. So, this seemed like the perfect choice.
I used the product 7 times and the first thing I have to say about the product is that it delivers. Here are a few things I loved:
- My skin felt more clean & supple
- I saw a visible reduction in rides & tightness
- It did not suck up moisture from my skin
So, in short, it delivers everything it promises to. About the actual CBD benefits- well, it’s a short time to determine that. However, I will definitely use this product again so we will find out. Probably the only complaint I had was that the texture was a bit too creamy for my liking but I think that’s what helps to seal in the moisture.
2. CBD Restoring Facial Oil
To finish this mini routine, I needed something moisturizing, and given my dry patch situation at the moment, I chose this facial oil. Again, it is for the same skin type and recommended to be used after the cleanser. So, I was basically following the recommendation made by the brand.
This is what it promised:
“helps restore dehydrated, stressed skin*. Enriched with a blend of naturally derived CBD and hemp seed oil, the lightweight, non-greasy formula helps to restore your skin’s moisture levels and relieve the discomfort of dehydrated skin. Skin is left skin feeling soothed, with an improved texture that feels smoother to the touch.”
I used the product 2 times a day for 10 days and the first thing I have to say about the product is my new favorite. Here are a few things I loved:
- I love the consistency of the product because it is oily but doesn’t stay oily on the skin
- My skin actually felt ‘soothed’ and relaxed after application
- I saw my patches and pigmentation fading away in just 5 applications
In short, I will definitely keep using this product because I can actually see its impact on my skin. Perhaps, wouldn’t keep using it twice a day but it will remain a staple in my nighttime skincare routine. In fact, this is the product that makes me want to try more CBD products now. I strongly recommend this product to anyone with dryness or pigmentation on their skin.
With that, I end my Bodyshop CBD skincare review. Have you tried these products (or others similar to these) already? Are you planning to? What do you think? Share all your thoughts in the comment section below!
