Let me paint a picture for you from my home country – India! As a country, India is the perfect example of a transitioning economic society. At this crossroad of trade & culture, my generation of strong and independent women love every bit of comfort that Indian wear offers while wanting to have the mobility and panache of the western wear, too. Voila – Fusion Wear. This is in a nutshell what inspires the Statement Fashion House that I’ve collaborated with for their fusion denim outfit!
Yes! Their collection 2018 is being ruled by Denim which in itself may seem like an unlike choice for fusion wear but that’s what is unique about them. They bring denim to life by fusing it with embroidery and patchwork originated by the ethnic crafts world of Gujarat & Rajasthan, the states celebrated for their traditional handicrafts in India. Denim in itself may seem like an ordinary, self-sufficient fabric but the wonders it can create just with a little tweak and a little spotlight is what is riling me up the most when I look at their work.
And let me just take a moment to commend the quality of the fabric! I mean, my love for the collection, the people behind it, and the concepts apart, the consistent, about luxe quality of the fabric is in itself takes the cake for me. I’d definitely put my name behind this!
Styling Fusion Denim:
TBH I chose their simplest, most low-key piece because I, for one, never wear fusion wear in Paris. But their pop-colored zesty fabrics, embroidery, handmade craftwork and an ethnic vibe of different states with different designs & silhouettes have my heart.
They will definitely rule my wardrobe in India, too. I mean, seriously, look at those details!
This shirt dress is made with high-quality denim, using white tassels for the fusion details on the bust line, following all around the back. As cheeky as I am, I matched my white tassel drop earrings with the very tassels here. I especially love the fringe details on the bottom making the dress look so chic and outstanding in particular. I styled it with a matching grey-white belt and added some silver accessories to match the beautiful pallet. The dress is outstanding for all moods but I’ve styled it with a flair for autumn here in my pastel chunky heels & stockings.
Did I mention that they have all these awesome pieces other than their key denim fusion wear collection? Here’re some of my other cherished picks from their collection:
Collaboration with “Statement Fashion House”:
This collaboration is a lot of extra special to me for it is by one of the most important people in my life – my best friend and the key curator of the collection at Statement Fashion House – Kriti Goyal & the collection is largely designed by Ms. Alka Goyal (her superstar mom)! Plus, the business is a representative of what an ethical small business should be. It has its values set in fair-labor and inclusive employment of the actual artists who hand-craft their fusion pieces. So, be a doll and show them some love on their Instagram account & tell them you found out about them here. They currently sell exclusively through their Instagram or at select exhibitions. So, you can directly place the orders and stay up to date about their next exhibitions, fusion denim designs, and more.
