Salutations fellow travel lovers. I’m writing this as I wait to board my flight back to Paris from my Long weekend Dubai and Abu Dhabi trip. I’m absolutely enchanted by these man-made marvels of cities. In fact, it debunks many reservations you and I may have before going to the middle-east. These are two modern cities with a great mix of heritage and modernity to offer. People are very welcoming & friendly and there’s something here for people of all kinds of interest. So, here’s me sharing my Dubai Travel in Style Diary with you.
Don’t worry, the Abu Dhabi travel in style diary will follow soon!
Read on for the following Highlights of this Travel Diary:
3 Days in Dubai
Dubai Desert Safari
Shopping in Dubai
The first city of UAE, Dubai is all kinds of modern, grand, and amazing. Located on the Persian Gulf, was a small isolated town since known for pearls & fishing. The city gained importance by participating in the creation of the Trucial States. Today, it’s an architectural hub with some of the world’s most unusual buildings as well as the tallest building in the world- Burj Khalifa. Furthermore, it’s a city famous for shopping and everything luxury when it comes to travel experiences.
To avoid the worst of the heat, the best months to visit are between November and March. I did visit in the worst heat period- June end/July and it wasn’t absolutely unbearable. However, you can definitely not enjoy outdoors much during this time due to the excess humidity.
The city is easily accessible via flights. Summer flights are cheaper due to the obvious reasons. I recommend renting a car when in the city as public transport is not the most reliable.
Things to do on a long weekend in Dubai:
So, here’s my long weekend travel diary for a fun-filled time in Dubai for you. The long weekend in Dubai was absolutely amazing for many reasons. Majorly because it was my all-girls trip with my closest girlfriends. Having said that, I highly recommend going to Dubai/Abu Dhabi as an all-girl-trip location for its accessibility and safety (and of course, shopping).
I have divided the things to do in the city by location. You can mix and match the places you want to be at on the day, obviously, depending on the time you have. I’m also adding the outfits I wore for these experiences. After all, life is all about traveling in style! You can click on these links directly to get these outfits and more from my partner site Shein. Don’t forget to use ‘9ADITI’ for an additional 15% off!
1. Burj Khalifa
Opened in 2010, standing 828m high, this is the tallest building in the world and the views are worth every second of your time. Don’t forget to make an online booking in advance to avoid the long queues.
2. Burj Al Arab
The Burj Al Arab Jumeirah is one of the most iconic buildings in the Middle East, if not the world. The sail-shaped structure is one of a kind and the hotel is synonymous with luxury. The best place to snap a picture of it is from the Jumeirah open beach!
3. Dubai Frame
One of the newest attractions in the city, Dubai Frame offers an hour-long tour giving ariel views from the old to the new in the city. It’s a great place if you’re looking to see Burj Khalifa and Burj Al-Arab in full frame, too!
4. Dubai Creek
Situated in the old town of Dubai, you can boat here through the canal and just witness the combination of old & new in this experience.
5. Dubai Fountain
Located inside the Dubai mall, this fountain hosts a sound & light show every day between 7 pm & 9 pm. Definitely, a place to unwind at after your day of shopping at this huge mall.
6. Al Seef
Al Seef area is steeped in history, with a huge amount of Emirati culture. It’s basically the best place to discover the heritage of this rather postmodern city.
So, there’re no strict rules about attires in Dubai but it’s always nice to dress a bit down and not be ‘obscene’ in any way. I recommend prioritizing functionality and going for midi/maxi style wear. You’ll stay comfortable in the heat and look amazing at the same time.
- Black tie-up blouse with statement sleeves
- White Ruffled Skirt With Lace details
7. Jumeirah Beach
8. Kite Beach
9. Aquaventure and Atlantis The Palm
Beach outfits are no brainers and to keep up the spirit of functionality and rules of the land, I suggest going for a maxi dress. Of course, you can be creative with the dress itself like I did.
Alternative Dress Style:
10. Desert Safari
Like any quintessential desert safari but topped with some breath-taking dune bashing in the middle of the Arabian sand desert. I recommend taking a package deal from a local or an internet based tour service provider to save time and money on this experience. With some authentic locations, food tasting, cultural programs, camel riding & more, the experience is definitely amazing and one of a kind.
Keep your outfit easy-breezy and functional for this experience. I rode the ATV bikes on the desert and rode the camel without any heat or other trouble thanks to this outfit. Moreover, it blends in and stands out just the right amount.
- Asymmetrical Top With Embroidery And Pompoms
- Harem style Pants (Salwar)
- Round Straw Bag With Fringes
Shopping & Nightlife:
11. Souks of Dubai
12. Mall Hopping
13. Walk at Marina
14. Downtown Clubbing
The nightlife is unhinged in the city and the perfect time to dress up a lot more. I saw a lot of women rocking beautiful dresses, too. However, I went with a blazer dress to keep things on the classier side.
So, that was my long weekend in Dubai travel diary. Do share with me if you think I missed out on something so I can cover that on my next trip to the beautiful city. I’d love to hear your thoughts on my travel in style diary & recommendations, so don’t forget to comment about that, too.
